Viennois de naissance et viennois dans l'âme, Josef Krips devient chef permanent de l'Opéra de Vienne dès 1933. A l'occasion des 120 ans de sa naissance, nous consacrons toute cette semaine nos Arabesques à celui qui ne fut pas seulement un grand mozartien.

C'est en 1924, en Tchécoslovaquie, que Josef Krips fit sa première apparition à l'étranger sans interrompre jusqu'à la fin de sa vie ses nombreux périples à travers le monde, dirigeant la plupart des ouvrages de tous genres, avec les solistes les plus prestigieux, les orchestres les plus illustres et dans cinq continents. Il est incontestable que la personnalité de Krips a rayonné durant plusieurs décennies un peu partout.
