Nicholas Angelich - Jean-François Leclercq / Erato

Interprète éclectique, Nicholas Angelich explore les répertoires classiques et romantiques comme le répertoire contemporain. Nous retrouvons le pianiste franco-américain, qui fête cette année ses 50 ans, autour d’une programmation riche : Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, ou encore Prokofiev...

D’un père d’origine monténégrine violoniste dans l’orchestre de Cincinnati, d’une mère arménienne, slovaque et roumaine née en Russie et qui a été son premier professeur, Nicholas Angelich naît aux Etats-Unis à Cincinnati en 1970. Pianiste précoce, il est accompagné par sa mère à Paris à l’âge de 13 ans afin d’intégrer le Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris où il étudie avec Aldo Ciccolini, Yvonne Loriod, Michel Beroff. Il remporte à Cleveland le 2ème Prix du Concours International Robert Casadesus, le 1er Prix du Concours International Gina Bachauer. Aux Victoires de la Musique Classique, il reçoit la Victoire du « Soliste Instrumental de l’Année » en 2013 et en 2019.

Le pianiste au tempérament secret s'illustre par un jeu à la technique impressionnante. Son répertoire fait la part belle à Brahms, dont il a gravé l'intégrale des œuvres pour piano, accompagné de Renaud et Gautier Capuçon, mais aussi à Beethoven, Bach, Liszt ou encore Rachmaninov. Il interprète également la musique du XXème siècle et de ses contemporains : Messiaen, Stockhausen, Pierre Boulez, Eric Tanguy, Bruno Mantovani dont il crée Suonare, ou le concerto de Baptiste Trotignon, Different Spaces. Ses derniers enregistrements avec orchestre sont consacrés à Beethoven.

"Prokofiev" - sortie le 22 janvier 2021

Le 22 janvier 2021 sortira sur le label Erato le dernier album du pianiste : "Prokofiev". Certains extraits seront disponibles en téléchargement dès le 18 décembre.
