En 1954, Herbert von Karajan enregistre une version mythique de l'opéra de Mozart "Cosi fan tutte" avec l'orchestre Philharmonia. Pour cet enregistrement, le chef s'est entouré d'une brillante équipe et notamment de la soprano Elisabeth Schwarzkopf.

Le chef d'orchestre Herbert von Karajan enregistre Cosi fan tutte de Mozart à Londres en juillet 1954 pour le label EMI. Le chef dirige l'orchestre Philharmonia, un ensemble créé à la fin de la guerre par Walter Legge pour les studios EMI. Dans cette version mythique de l'opéra de Mozart, Herbert von Karajan est entouré d'une équipe formée par Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Nan Merriman, Léopold Simoneau, Rolandeau Panerai, Sesto Bruscantini et Lisa Otto.

"Un enregistrement qui n'a pas pris une ride, à écouter jusqu'à l'ivresse !" s'enthousiasme le pianiste et collaborateur de France Musique Philippe Cassard : "La manière dont les ensembles vocaux sont fondus en une seule couleur sans qu'une tête ne dépasse relève de la sorcellerie. Et quelle vitalité, quel sens de l'action dramatique, du rebond et du rythme !"
