Camille Saint-Saëns commence le piano avec sa grande tante, puis avec le compositeur et pédagogue Camille Stamaty. Le 16 décembre 1921, il décède, en prononçant, selon la légende, ces mots : « Cette fois, je crois que c'est vraiment la fin. ».
