Un concert inédit : “Ella at the Hollywood Bowl - The Irving Berlin Songbook” de Ella Fitzgerald, premier concert complet dans ce lieu emblématique à être publié est révélé par Verve/Universal. Nous sommes en août 1958, elle vient d’avoir 41 ans.

Les enregistrements "Songbook" d' Ella Fitzgerald , avec ses interprétations inégalées des meilleures chansons de compositeurs emblématiques tels que Irving Berlin, Rodgers et Hart, Cole Porter, George et Ira Gershwin et bien d'autres encore, constituent la pierre angulaire du catalogue Verve et la référence absolue des enregistrements vocaux de standards de jazz. Aussi influents que ces albums aient été sur l'histoire du jazz et de la chanson populaire américaine, Ella Fitzgerald n'a jamais publié de version live de ces songbooks . Déniché dans les archives du producteur Norman Granz, cet enregistrement inédit de 1958 est également une première à bien d'autres égards : bien qu'elle se soit produite régulièrement au Hollywood Bowl , elle n’y avait jamais enregistré. En outre, c’est la seule fois où Ella s’est présentée en concert avec Paul Weston, le talentueux arrangeur et chef d'orchestre de son album studio “The Irving Berlin Songbook”
